His work has been recognized by several leading design competitions including: Communication Arts (Tim was also the subject of a CA feature article, Nov/Dec 2011 issue), Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibitions, receiving the Society’s Gold Medal award, Addys (local, regional, and national), , Print and Graphex, and received numerous “Best In Show’s”. Jessell has been chosen Illustrator of the Year by ADWEEK Magazine. Tim illustrates the best seller series Secrets Of Droon, Dog Diaries, Amare Stoudemire’s STAT, Stan Lee of Marvel Comics first children’s picture book, and covers for the reissue of Zilpha Keatley Snyder’s Newbery Honor Books. Jessell is also the author and illustrator of two picture books, Amorak and FALCON. Tim has been a guest speaker to professional graphic communication groups and enjoys speaking to student groups as well. Tim was honored as being named to his former high school’s inaugural “Hall of Distinction”.

After graduating from Terre Haute South Vigo High School, Tim Jessell attended The University of Tulsa in Tulsa, where he earned a bachelor of fine arts degree, graduating cum laude, in commercial design.

When not at his drawing board or teaching Graphic Design at Oklahoma State University, Tim has spent his time with his wife and raising their three children. Drumming in rock bands in Tulsa gaveway to spending countless hours coaching the kids' baseball, softball, football, and basketball teams. Tim also for decades has been a licensed and active falconer.
